Changes!

Hindsight is a beautiful gift. Without it, it would be very difficult to assess our true gains and losses. Without it, it would be difficult to learn lessons from our past and history. It makes us feel bad about not seeing things clearly at the time, which is very motivating to be "smart" in the future. It reveals trends to us, and we become better acquainted with life thanks to it.

Civilizations have learned a lot from hindsight, and moved forward. So that individual people. However this does not mean that we do not repeat our mistakes.

When I look back at my past that is slightly shorter than a quarter of a century, there are some patterns I have followed. It does not matter how many times those patterns appeared in my life, and made me say, "I should have known better" with the benefit of hindsight, it reared its ugly head (I am talking about mistakes) in some form or another.

Some say even though a behavior, emotion, environment, a certain person can be very destructive and threatening to someone, it is better than changing something in your life, and moving in an unknown route. That maybe why that even though hindsight shows us some patterns, and reveals why certain things happened to us, we still chose to make those mistakes over and over and over again. They are familiar to us; we know more or less what the outcome is going to be. The lack of ambiguity is weirdly comforting.

In order to be brave enough to change something, and be ok with the ambiguity of the unknown, a person not only intellectually, but also emotionally should be ready. People usually change "overnight" when enough is enough, they just cannot take the way things are going anymore. The analogy of "the last drop in the glass" before it spills over is a very appropriate one. One should not be surprised that the glass spilled over with just one little drop. Because in reality there were hundred others before it, signaling that the glass was getting too full to hold all that liquid in.

Change comes in different forms, shapes and sizes. The energy that drives this change can be a huge life-altering event, or a sudden realization that you just cannot hurt yourself this way anymore. But do not be fooled when people say that they changed over night. Change is a process, and people need to be convinced, and weigh their gains before they cut their losses.

With energy,

Me
