It was always very difficult for me to start writing an essay. It became clearer to me after writing many many of them, that the difficulty was not stemming from my laziness, or lack of knowledge on the subject. It is the structure of the essay that makes it difficult. To limit my thoughts by a specific subject, word count, number of pages, a theory, a due date overwhelms me. I like connecting the dots, jumping from one thought to another. I like thinking freely, and spending time on "what if" scenarios, (i.e. how long it would take for wine to diffuse into one's blood stream from their skin, or even if it is possible). I have a lot to say, about many things. Not necessarily knowledge per se, but my thoughts, hypotheses. Reactions. I want to write and see where it takes me. I want to write and not worry about guidelines, grades or making sense.
I am hoping that writing a blog will help me ponder more freely, materialize my ideas that are run wild by my imagination, and maybe even provide some answers as a result. Most of all, I am hoping that my attempt at this never ending essay will give you answers to the questions that you never thought to ask anyone. Who knows, you might end up finding out which romantic composer owes his fame to another composer of his time, which animal is left-handed, what city is the capital of Lesotho, why Severus Snape is a very well-thought literary character or at least a little bit more about me.
With love and hunger,
Me
